SAP SE: accelerating digital transformation through products and services

SAP SE, one of the world’s largest enterprise software companies, recently showcased new products and services that will enable individuals and professional developers to accelerate digital transformation.

“The global shortage of full-time developers will decline from 1.4 million in 2021 to 4.0 million by 2025,” said Juergen Mueller, CTO and member of the board of directors of SAP SE.

Speaking at SAP TechEd – a technical training and networking conference for IT professionals who develop, implement, optimize and upgrade SAP solutions – Mueller addressed the organization’s goals of meeting the talent gap with new tools, integrations, built-in artificial intelligence, and learning programs that help employees and candidates develop new skills for the cloud era first. “For our customers and partners around the world, the future is in the cloud,” he said. “Accessing the right talents, skills and abilities for this path can be a challenge. SAP announcements not only empower citizen developers, but also support professional developers in their continuous learning efforts so that customers can innovate today and continue to lay the foundation for their success tomorrow.

Anyone can be a developer

SAP’s unified low-code / no-code development experience on SAP Business Technology Platform (SAP BTP) enables professional developers and individuals to build new applications, enhance existing applications, and automate complex tasks . “By adding code-free development and automation with the SAP AppGyver® development environment, enhancing low-code development with SAP Business Application Studio, and providing an overview of the SAP Process Automation solution, SAP offers new ways customers to do more by drawing on technology talent across their organizations, whether in or outside traditional IT departments, ”added Mueller.

DHL, a global leader in the logistics industry, uses SAP AppGyver® to digitize processes and streamline employee operations for fleet management. “Using SAP AppGyver®, we have created a mobile app on iOS and Android to better manage damage reports for our trailer fleet across Europe,” said Ilari Aarikka, Director, Trailer Fleet and fleet, DHL. “The app has helped us increase reporting reliability while making inspections more convenient for field workers. ”

For professional developers, the free tier model for SAP BTP now includes SAP HANA® Cloud and SAP Integration Suite. SAP is also previewing its new visual theme “Horizon” for its SAP Fiori® design system.

Towards composable business solutions

SAP announced several updates to help customers integrate and expand their business with modular and agile solutions that address individual challenges. The latest update to SAP Integration Suite, the integration layer of SAP BTP, provides additional integration content and prepackaged adapters – available on SAP API Business Hub – to integrate both SAP and non-SAP applications. By the end of 2021, SAP Integration Suite is expected to be available on Google Cloud Platform. SAP is expected to release new dynamic extension capabilities in SAP HANA Cloud to help customers move workloads to the cloud from their on-premises systems in near real time. SAP is also introducing new ways to facilitate migrations from on-premises SAP Business Warehouse systems to the SAP Data Warehouse Cloud solution and extended localization options for SAP S / 4HANA® Cloud.

AI offerings integrated across the entire portfolio

SAP has extended the built-in artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities that make it easier for developers and customers to harness AI and increase productivity. New features in the SAP Conversational AI service simplify the creation and monitoring of chatbots to automate tasks and workflows. SAP is expected to launch the Personalized Recommendation Service, a new neural network-based recommendation engine that provides highly personalized recommendations in a wide range of business scenarios. And many SAP products and services now use the power of AI to automate intercompany document matching, recommend actions in workflows, extract and process data from business documents, or provide learning recommendations.

Learn from the classroom to the boardroom

SAP has launched a brand new SAP learning site. It appeals to SAP developers at all levels with a simple and intuitive design that makes it easy to refine or retrain in key innovation areas, for free. The new experience includes a full range of learning content available in a variety of formats, from expert-led sessions and hands-on training to micro-learning videos. SAP also introduced an AI program for high schools and a program to deliver cloud solutions from SAP to universities and faculty.
