Tech giant Microsoft has announced its fourth and largest data center in India in Hyderabad; the region will comprise three pockets of land and will be operational from 2025. Microsoft was previously in three existing regions – Mumbai, Chennai and Pune. It will offer the entire portfolio of the company through its cloud, data solutions, AI, tools like Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint, customer relationship management (CRM) with data security for businesses, start-ups, developers, education and government institutions. .

“It’s a continuous investment. It (Hyderabad Data Center) will not be the biggest from day one, but it will become the biggest over a period of time,” Anant Maheshwaripresident of Microsoft India, noted. The Microsoft India Development Center (MSIDC) in Hyderabad is the company’s largest software development center outside of its Washington headquarters.

“I am extremely pleased that Microsoft has chosen Hyderabad as the destination for its largest data center investment in India. It will also be one of the largest foreign direct investments (FDI) the state has attracted. Microsoft and Telangana have a long history with Hyderabad hosting one of the largest Microsoft offices in the world, and I am happy to see the relationship grow,” Shri KT Rama Rao, Minister of State for Municipal Government and Development Urban, Industries and Commerce and Information Technology, said.

According to an IDC reportMicrosoft data center regions in India contributed $9.5 billion to the economy from 2016 to 2020. The report also states that around 1.5 million jobs were created from the centers of Microsoft data over a 5-year period, including 169,000 new skilled IT jobs.
