REVIEW – Even though I am a software programmer, I prefer to keep my life organized both digitally and on paper. However, I’m very particular with how things are laid out and categorized, so finding the right planner is hard for me. Golden Coil’s personalized planner is perfect for me because it’s fully customizable, from layouts to personal dates. It also allows you to add other pages so that it becomes a complete place to write everything you need to keep track.

What is that?

The Golden Coil Personalized Planner is a fully customizable planner/notebook that is custom printed for you with dates and personal holidays provided.

Design and features

The first page of the planner is an elegant contact page. It shows the years covered by the planner, your name, phone number, email address and allows you to add a personalized personal message. I didn’t add a message but it would print below the email address.

I chose a linen cover but you can also choose a designer or leather cover. The leather cover is not actually leather but coated paper to provide the same look and feel as leather. The front and back cover are the same with the front cover embossed with Golden Coil in gold. All covers are made of nice and thick hard cardboard. That means I think it will hold up to whole years of use and tossing around in a bag.

Each month is presented in a two-page month view at the beginning of the individual month pages. Any holidays or personal dates added during customization will show up here to give you a quick overview of the month. As you can see in the image above, I chose to include some of the built-in holiday collections. Not only do they have the traditional vacation, but they have groups for fun, food, and the best vacation. These include Nacho Day, World Kindness Day and a Hike Day.

Now the scheduler enters its customization. I personally chose a single-page weekly layout with a lined page with a scribble and quote area on the opposite side. This is just one of many layouts available. You can choose between a double weekly layout if you need more space per day or even a daily layout where each day has its own page. In each generic layout, there are several different versions for the page content. It is impossible to describe every available option, so if you would like to see more layouts than the one I have chosen, please visit Golden Coil.

Another fun option is the added quote at the bottom of each of the day/week pages. There are many different categories to choose from for the quotes theme. I chose motivation/inspiration but you can choose a category that speaks to you. You can also choose not to print quotes and they will leave this area blank. However, this does not mean that you will get any content printed on the page, the area will just remain blank.

The rest of the planner can be populated with a multitude of different page types. I chose to fill the rest of mine with graph paper for note taking, but there are plenty of other options. Layout categories range from food and projects to lifestyle and health. You can also customize the number of pages of each type of layout you want to add to your planner. This means you can have a few pages for documenting wellness goals, a few pages for grocery lists, and then the rest for project planning.

What I like

  • Feels very elegant
  • thick pages
  • Easy to customize with personal dates and layouts

What I would change

  • Mobile markers for the current day and other pages added

Final Thoughts

Planners are such personal things, not just because of the information they store. People have different techniques to stay organized and it requires different layouts which are often not readily available in planers. Golden Coil is the perfect answer to that and lets anyone customize their planner however they want based on how they organize things. I will absolutely use my planner for the rest of the year and will probably buy another one for next year.
