Danlaw Acquires BSC Spin-off Maspatechnologies, Augmenting Rapita Systems’ Multi-Core Capabilities

Maspatechnologies’ pioneering work on the analysis of multi-core hardware platforms was initiated at BSC-CNS. Recently, Maspatechnologies played a key role in Airbus’ successful certification of the first-ever “fully automatic in-flight refueling (A3R) operation with a boom system”. As part of this project, Maspatechnologies provided Airbus with temporal analysis and characterization services that were essential in building a CAST-32A compliant certification case for this multi-core avionics system.

Maspatechnologies is the first spin-off sold by BSC and was made possible thanks to BSC’s investment in technology transfer. BSC’s 11 spin-off companies have created 121 jobs and raised €8.5 million in funding rounds in six years, with 5 companies created since 2020. These new companies offer cutting-edge services in areas as diverse as biomedicine , security, aerospace and automotive. industry and quantum computing.

Raju DanduPresident of Danlaw, Inc., said, “Maspatechnologies joining our Danlaw family enables us to comprehensively address a key disruption in the safety-critical embedded industry – the adoption of high-performance multi-core processors. Looking ahead, we believe this acquisition demonstrates Danlaw’s focus on creating value through cutting-edge technology. transfer to meet the rapidly changing needs of the avionics and automotive industries. »

Dan McClungCEO of Rapita Systems bandcommented: “This acquisition demonstrates our commitment to supporting the future of the embedded industry, which will depend on the adoption of multi-core technology. The Maspatechnologies team brings together leading domain experts who, in combination with the Rapita’s existing tools and expertise, provide the only viable commercially available route to multi-core certification.”

Mateo ValeroDirector of BSC, states: “The sale of Maspatechnologies demonstrates BSC’s commitment to the development of exceptional and relevant research that has a real impact on society. investment in our region. This success has a tangible impact and demonstrates the return on investment that BSC funding can bring.

Francisco J. CazorlaCo-founder of Maspatechnologies, Co-head of the CAOS research group at BSC commented, “I am pleased to see that the research we began over a decade ago at BSC has matured into an industry-ready technology for the in-vehicle industry. This has been achieved through the efforts of many BSC experts including Jaume Abella (co-founder of Maspatechnologies) and the technology transfer office of BSC. Looking ahead, I am excited to join the Rapita Systems family as a Senior Technical Fellow and continue this important work that is critical to facilitating the adoption of multi-core processors in the safety-critical embedded industry. »
